F2 Logistics escape with hard-earned win vs Akari

Akari engaged F2 Logistics in a war of attrition, but it was the Cargo Movers who escaped with a tough three-set triumph in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference Saturday night at the Philsports Arena.

The Chargers struggled with unforced errors, but gallantly battled throughout all three frames before running out of steam in a 22-25, 23-25, 18-25 defeat — their second straight in this tournament.

In what was probably the longest three-set match of the year so far, Kim Dy led the Cargo Movers with 17 points while Myla Pablo and Aby Marano also chipped in for the ladies in yellow. Dindin Santiago-Manabat led the charge for Akari with 16 points, but rode the bench as F2 Logistics pulled away midway through the third frame.

Like in the first game, Manabat was the Chargers’ only potent offensive weapon, with Janine Marciano and Trisha Genesis only contributing in spurts. De Brito tried combination after combination, but just couldn’t find the one that would push Akari over the hump as they dropped into a tie for last place at 0-2.

The Chargers and the Cargo Movers had equal attacks at 36 kills, but their 27 unforced errors were just too much to overcome this time.
