The Adamson Soaring Falcons lost a blowout game against the De La Salle University Green Archers, 89-63, to end their Season 82 campaign Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
DLSU came out with guns blazing as they started with a 13-0 run in just the first three and a half minutes of the game. The Falcon made a slight recovery to reduce the lead to eight, 16-8, midway through the opening frame. It was the last time Adamson came as close as a single-digit lead as DLSU took over what became a wire-to-wire match for them.
The Archers lived up to its name as it sent a barrage of long-range shots on Adamson’s way, connecting on 14 triples in just 30 attempts. They also had more rebounds (63-40) and assists (24-12) compared to their counterparts.
One-and-done forward Jamie Malonzo put on a show in his last game in an Archer uniform with 34 points and 12 rebounds, including seven triples, while Justine Baltazar unleashed a double-double performance with 14 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Rookie sensation AP Manlapaz showed up once more for Adamson with 15 points to lead all Falcons in scoring. Jerom Lastimosa chipped in 10 points, including those two triples that gave Adamson its first six points.
It was an emotional game for team captain Simon Camacho, beloved one-and-done guard Val Chauca, and seniors Kristian Bernardo, Egie Mojica, and Keith Zaldivar, as they played their final game for Adamson.
With the loss, the Soaring Falcons concluded the season with a 4-10 record, good for sixth place ahead of UE and NU. Coach Franz Pumaren and his team will now look forward to improving on their performance come Season 83.
