A professional volleyball team playing in the Chinese Volleyball League (CVL) is set to meet the Cool Smashers and the Lady Falcons in a pair of friendly games on July 26 and July 28, respectively.
The Fujian Anxi Tieguanyin Women’s Volleyball Club ranked 8th among the 14 teams in the recent CVL. Despite missing the services of two national team players, middle blocker Zheng Yixin and 2016 Rio Olympics best libero, Lin Li who are both preparing for the qualification tournament of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games, the Philippine contingents will have their hands full in facing the Fujian team with an average height of 181cm (5’9”).
Lin Lin, their team captain and an outside hitter standing at 185cm (6 ft), was part of the China national team that bagged the gold medal in the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship. Manning the setting chores is Liang Guiqian who was also China’s playmaker when they ranked 4th in the Asian Championship Games 2017 held in Manila. Meanwhile, 19-year old Liang Weifan (middle blocker) was part of China’s Junior national team and helped her squad to a runner-up finish in the 2018 Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Championship.
The closed-door games will be held at the Adamson SV Gym.
