Ready to set a date with destiny.
With a shot at making it to the Last Dance, Adamson takes on inspired UP in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball Final Four Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Game time is at 3:30pm, with the venue expected to be a sea of white and maroon as the two teams vie for their first championship round ticket since the Final Four was instituted a quarter of a century ago.
The Soaring Falcons will be slightly favored in their battle, especially as they are armed with the all-important twice-to-beat advantage.
But the Fighting Maroons, with newly-minted league MVP Bright Akhuetie at the forefront, are expected to give coach Franz Pumaren and his wards a tough fight as they try to live another day.
One of the stingiest defensive teams in the UAAP, Adamson is expected to work double time on that end against the top offensive squad in the league.
With long and versatile defenders in Sean Manganti, Simon Camacho, Egie Mojica and Vince Magbuhos, the Falcons will be hard-pressed to guard UP’s bevy of firecrackers.
It will also be an interesting matchup down low, with Akhuetie and Adamson’s Papi Sarr tipped to figure in a bruising battle.
If the Falcons win, they will advance to the Finals, where they get the golden chance to bring home to San Marcelino its first UAAP men’s basketball title since 1977.
