No complacency for Falcons against UE, Pumaren vows

UE might be down on the standings with a sordid campaign in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament so far, but coach Franz Pumaren said Adamson won’t be taking the Red Warriors lightly at all.

The Soaring Falcons face off with coach Joe Silva and his squad Saturday, 2:00pm, with the former entering the game with stakes never at its highest in the season up until this point.

Pumaren said facing a team like UE will not be easy.

“Sometimes, it’s scary to play a team that has been eliminated,” he said after they crushed UST last Wednesday. “Nothing against UE, but playing a team that has no pressure already, it’s not a sure win.”

The multi-titled mentor noted how the Red Warriors sent FEU into a tailspin when they defeated them after the Tamaraws took down both Adamson and Ateneo in back-to-back games.

And if they’re hell-bent on grabbing that important twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four, Pumaren said there will be no letting up.

“We won’t be complacent,” he said. “We’re almost there to get that particular incentive. We’re aiming for that.”
