Adamson Lady Falcons starts rebuilding; lineup for PVL Collegiate Conference bared

With four Lady Falcons having exhausted their UAAP eligibility, the Adamson WVT needs all the experience it can muster ahead of the UAAP Season 81 to fill up the void left by former team captain, Jema Galanza, starting setter Fhen Emnas, libero Jellie Tempiatura and S78 skipper Mylene Paat.

“Considering all the new recruits we have, playing as much as we can before this coming UAAP season is our goal. This conference is a good start for us to gel and build team chemistry,” said coach Airess Padda.
The third-year mentor continued, “I expect my players to step up. We are somewhat in a new rebuilding stage but not starting at the bottom. I expect my team to work hard, compete at a high level and be disciplined, while working to achieve our main goals. It doesn’t matter who’s on the court – having the fighting spirit isn’t derived from talent.”

The American mentor is excited for the remaining pool of talented Lady Falcons who didn’t get the opportunity to shine last year, and who now have chance to lead the team. “Players like Eli, Flora, Lei, Chiara, Thang, Cring and Joy are players that have been under me for 2 years na. They’re no longer rookies, they know the system and I believe we will see leaders emerge. I’m excited about our recruits, Trisha and Kritch, along with the other ‘babies’! They bring a completely different energy to the program, very young, fun and super energetic”, she continued.

Coach Air is also particularly excited with the team’s new setter, MJ Igao. “This will be her first time playing in a live match as a setter since we converted her a year ago, upon recruitment. To see her progress in the year that she’s been with us is amazing,” she said.

“I believe everyone has an opportunity to make the starting six line up but they have to be ready for that responsibility that comes along with it. This PVL Conference will help all of my players be more confident and ready to take on that role”, Padda closed.
