Onyok Getigan named head coach of Adamson high school girls team

Adamson Lady Falcons assistant coach Onyok Getigan has been tasked to reenergize the Adamson high school girls volleyball program.

Fr. Aldrin Suan, director of the Office of Athletics and Recreation, confirmed the development on Saturday while Akari Sports director Russell Balbacal expressed his excitement at the appointment.

“We believe coach Onyok has what it takes to bring the Adamson GVT program to another level,” he said. “Akari is throwing its full support behind him and his staff.”

The Baby Falcons missed the Final Four again in the Season 80 girls volleyball tournament, which was won for a fourth consecutive time by National University.

Getigan made a name for himself coaching Kings Montessori School to several Palarong Pambansa stints in the last few years.

Representing NCR, Getigan and the Lady Vikings are currently in Vigan for the 2018 Palaro.

Last year, they lost to Southern Luzon in the championship round, surrendering the crown they won in the 2016 Palaro in Albay.
