Talk about going out with a bang.
Graduating players Jema Galanza, Mylene Paat, Fhen Emnas and Jellie Tempiatura shone bright as Adamson swept UST in their UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball finale before a raucous crowd at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.
Paat put on a blocking show in the first set while Galanza and Emnas controlled the match from the service line as the Lady Falcons dismantled the Golden Tigresses, 25-6, 25-23, 25-23, to end the season at fifth place.
Eli Soyud, who has one playing year left, led the San Marcelino squad with 14 points while Paat had five blocks to finish with 13 markers.
Galanza, on the other hand, had 12 points, 10 digs and eight excellent receptions even as Emnas fired five aces to post seven points and 24 excellent sets.
Libero Tempiatura also made a good account of herself by rebounding from a sordid outing against La Salle with nine digs and six excellent receptions.
Adamson was on a mission from the get-go, racing to an 8-0 lead behind Paat’s blocking.
Milena Alessandrini stopped the bleeding for UST, but the Lady Falcons benefited from Soyud’s sniping to easily take the opening frame, 25-6.
The Tigresses engaged Adamson in a tight battle in the next two frames, but the Lady Falcons’ experience — for a change — was their advantage in the end game.
Sisi Rondina led all scorers with 15 points, but was visibly frustrated after the game as UST slid to seventh place with a 4-10 record.
