Count Eli Soyud as those raring to end this season on a positive note, even if she still has a playing year left for Adamson.
After turning in another solid performance against La Salle last Wednesday, the senior opposite spiker said she will not let the Lady Falcons’ UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball campaign direly.
“Syempre kailangan naming manalo dun,” Soyud said about Adamson’s Saturday battle with UST at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.
“Syempre pride na rin namin yun,” she added. “Yung ilalaro namin dun, pampataas na rin ng morale namin. Ang pangit naman nung season mo na ang end ay talo.”
Soyud will have a lot on her plate against the Golden Tigresses, especially on defense, where she is expected to help both at the net and on the floor against UST scoring machine Sisi Rondina and rookie wunderkind Milena Alessandrini.
The 5-foot-10 Negros Occidental native had two blocks and five points in their first-round matchup, which the Tigresses handily won in straight sets.
Now, coach Air Padda needs more output than that, especially with the Lady Falcons needing no less then a victory to ensure a fifth-place finish.
