No letting up for Akari-Adamson as they look to seal semis berth vs JRU

Don’t expect Akari-Adamson to slow down when they battle Jose Rizal University in their final elimination-round assignment in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Game time is at 5:00pm, with the favored Soaring Falcons (8-2) needing to win to lock up an outright semifinals berth against the eliminated Heavy Bombers (2-8).

Coach Franz Pumaren stressed that his wards will go for the kill, as a victory will spare them the trouble of facing other powerhouse squads in the quarterfinals.

“I don’t want to sound hypocrite that we don’t want to advance outright,” he said in an interview with the PBA website. “We do want that scenario and gain that top spot.”

Akari-Adamson will have a talented core at its disposal, with Jerrick Ahanmisi, Papi Sarr and Jerie Pingoy leading the charge.

A loss will send the Falcons to third place, as they lost to CEU (9-3) in their elimination-round battle, and will then face either Zark’s or Gamboa Coffee in the last eight.
