Akari-Adamson seizes top D-League spot after shock CEU loss

Akari-Adamson closed in on a direct ticket to the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup after erstwhile leader CEU suffered a shock loss Monday at the Pasig Sports Center.

Sitting at 8-2, the Soaring Falcons can formalize its Final Four entry with a win over also-ran JRU on Thursday in their last elimination-round game.

The Scorpions, now at 8-3, looked to be en route to an easy win over Batangas and even led, 44-20, in the second period.

But the Generals slowly chipped at CEU’s lead before stealing the Scorpions’ thunder late to score just their second win of the tournament.

CEU superstar import Rod Ebondo sat the game out due to an injury.
