There’s no use crying over spilled milk.
That is how Adamson will approach the loss of erstwhile starter and rookie gunner Chiara Permentilla for the rest of their UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball campaign due to injury.
After a bad landing in practice, the Batangas native has been shelved for the Lady Falcons’ last six outings, a precautionary decision made to make sure Permentilla recovers fully for future wars.
It hasn’t been an easy adjustment for Adamson, as they were used to Permentilla’s offense coming through in important moments.
“Syempre malaking tulong si Chiara sa amin, so sayang hindi na sana kami nag-aadjust,” said team captain Jema Galanza, who stepped up in Permentilla’s absence with 16 points against NU.
“Ngayon, wala nang atrasan to. Kung anong ibigay sa amin, kailangan lang panindigan at maging responsable.”
Coach Air Padda echoed her skipper’s statements.
“It affected us a lot when we found out,” said coach Air Padda. “Chiara brought so many things to our team.”
“I’m sad that she’s not gonna be with us because we know how hard she’s worked and we know how hard we worked with her,” she added. “I hope she’s learned something while she’s been here with us.”
Nonetheless, the American mentor wishes Permentilla well and vows the Lady Falcons will not back down in a frantic race to the Final Four.
“I hope she knows that we love her very, very much. We do miss her. We will be fighting and keeping strong in her absence.”
