Akari-Adamson moves closer to Final Four after Perpetual rout

Akari-Adamson inched closer to a top-two seat and an instant ticket to the semifinals after crushing Perpetual Help, 101-83, in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Five players finished in double figures while four others scored at least five markers as the Soaring Falcons tied idle CEU at the top with an 8-2 record.

Papi Sarr delivered 16 points, Egie Boy Mojica added 15, while Jerrick Ahanmisi, Jerom Lastimosa and Sean Manganti each posted 14 for Akari-Adamson, which broke free from a close game with a searing fourth-quarter rally.

The Falcons were only precariously up, 70-67, after 30 minutes before exploding for 31 points in the fourth period as the Altas’ defense fizzled.

Another win over also-ran JRU after Holy Week will seal the Final Four berth for Akari-Adamson.

Ex-UE guard Edgar Charcos led the Altas, now at 3-6, with 22 points.
