Student-athletes participating in the first-ever Akari National High School Volleyball Championships will receive a free jersey starting this weekend during the Mindanao finals in Cagayan de Oro City.
Coach Jerry Yee, national tournament commissioner, says this is Akari’s way of trying to inspire the young volleyball players.
“We hope giving them this benefit would motivate them to be better and go after their dreams,” he said. “It’s a simple gesture from Akari, but we hope it would go a long way in inspiring our players.”
Each of the more than 3, 000 participants will get a white or pink jersey, donning Akari’s official colors in the entirety of the tournament.
The six-leg, three-month volleyball wars fire off on January 12 in Mindanao, with 40 teams vying to be the first-ever regional champions of the Akari Nationals.
