MVP Fhen Emnas ready to go all-out in final season with Adamson

A few months into her return to the Lady Falcons’ nest, Fhen Emnas is feeling she made the right decision.

After sitting out Season 79 to attend to personal matters, the veteran setter chose to use her final year of eligibility to help Adamson fight for relevance in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament again.

“Yung instinct ko lang din kasi na gusto ko makatulong sa kanila, and for the school kasi syempre, pinag-aral nila ako,” said Emnas, who was named MVP of the first-ever Akari Cup last week.

“Gusto ko lang makatulong kung anong kaya ko.”

Without an experienced hand calling their plays, the Lady Falcons crashed to a forgettable 1-13 record, with their only victory coming against fellow cellar-dweller UE in the last game of the tournament.

Watching from afar, Emnas knew she had something to contribute, so when the school came calling anew, she heeded it.

Now a little more than a month before the UAAP, she proved her worth and led Adamson to a thrilling win over Air Force in the finals.

And like everyone in the community, Emnas is looking forward to a shot at redemption in Season 80.

“Sobrang excited kami lahat. Masaya kami na may dagdag pa,” she said, referring to the return of the recovering Jema Galanza and the comebacking Mylene Paat. “Siguro mas magiging buo pa kami lalo.”
