Akari-Adamson looks to be better by joining PBA D-League

Fresh off a third-place finish in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament, Adamson begins its long buildup for 2018 by joining the PBA D-League.

Backed anew by Akari Lighting, the Soaring Falcons will be using the Akari-Adamson banner for the developmental league that will feature 13 teams starting January 2018.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to try to be better,” said team manager and Akari Sports director Russell Balbacal. “Our goal has always been to win UAAP championships and if a stint at the PBA D-League helps us get that, then we are all in.”

Teams have until January 5 to submit their final lineups, but the Falcons are expected to parade the lineup that pushed La Salle to the limit in the recent Final Four before fading late in a controversial loss.

Tipped to banner Akari-Adamson are regulars Jerrick Ahanmisi, Papi Sarr, Sean Manganti, Jerie Pingoy, and Tyrus Hill, with coach Franz Pumaren and his staff handling sideline duties.
