History makers: Adamson Pep Squad waltzes way to first CDC crown

History made.

The Adamson Pep Squad broke through for its first UAAP Cheerdance Competition crown after dazzling the audience with an 80’s-themed routine Saturday at the jampacked Mall of Asia Arena.

Ending NU’s four-year reign atop the standings, the San Marcelino crew almost flawlessly executed a difficult and exciting performance anchored on songs that brought the crowd up and dancing.

Adamson scored 663.5 points while runners-up UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe and fellow upstart UE Pep Squad collected 638.5 points and 634.5 points, respectively.

Dethroned champs NU and the FEU Cheering Squad finished tied for fourth with 610.5 points apiece even as the UP Pep Squad, back after a one-year hiatus, bagged sixth with 575.5 points.

The DLSU Animo Squad and the Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion were seventh and eighth, in order.

With the victory, Adamson became just the fifth UAAP school to win a cheerdance title, as Ateneo, UE and La Salle remain winless in the annual joust that brought almost 20, 000 fans to the venue today.
