For his all-around performance in Adamson’s rise to the top three of the UAAP, Jerie Pingoy has been named UAAP Player of the Week.
The stocky point guard is the second consecutive Soaring Falcon to win the award, bagging the citation right after his backcourt partner, sharpshooter Jerrick Ahanmisi.
Pingoy was pivotal in the San Marcelino squad’s conquest of UP last Sunday, coming alive in the second half and finishing with 15 points, four rebounds, eight assists and six steals while steadying the ship on offense and locking down on defense on the other end.
The former UAAP Juniors MVP has been inconsistent in the tournament, but when he’s on, Pingoy has been posting all-around numbers that have boosted Adamson’s stock this year.
Coach Franz Pumaren said they are just still scratching the surface of what the promising playmaker can do.
“If he will just follow what we’re trying to teach him, he’ll be a better all-around player,” he said.
