Adamson is in a downward spiral, but Thang Ponce remains unfazed.
After the Lady Falcons absorbed what’s deemed its worst loss of the season so far, the Bataan native said bowing to UST taught them a number of lessons.
“Nakikita namin yung mga mali namn, yung mga dapat naming i-improve sa team,” she said. “Pwede pa kaming umangat. Aangat pa lang kami e.”
Ponce said coach Air Padda told them to continue working on their floor defense — a problem that has plagued them since the start of the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.
“First ball kasi yung mahalaga sa amin para maka-atake kami,” she shared. “Tutulong ako sa defense hangga’t kaya ko.”
The San Marcelino spikers get a final chance to redeem themselves in the first round when they tackle UE in what’s expected to be a war of attrition on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Ponce wants her teammates to continue fighting on, even if the odds are against them.
“Hindi ako susuko kasi marami pang game,” she said. “Anim pa lang naman yung nakalipas na game, meron pang mga susunod para maipakita namin and mapatunayan namin na hindi ganun yung sinasabi nila.”
