Ready to soar.
After six months of training, tuneup matches and a couple of off-season tournaments, Adamson University’s roster for the upcoming UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament has been determined.
The panel—the star-studded coaching staff composed of head coach Airess Padda and assistants Michele Gumabao, Angge Tabaquero and Cherry Macatangay—had to trim down the list from 16 eligible players to 13, believing these are the only ones ready for battle.
Leading the pack is power hitter Jema Galanza, who was also picked by Padda as the new team captain of the Lady Falcons.
Key returnees for the San Marcelino crew include Joy Dacoron, Jellie Tempiatura and Bernadette Flora.
With the departure of Season 78 starting setter Fhen Emnas, newcomer Chumcee Caola will be seeing major minutes with secondary playmaker Lynne Matias ready to backstop her.
Outside hitter Chrislyn Uy and libero Tang Ponce, who both showcased steady performances in the 2016 Unigames in Dumaguete, also made the final cut and are expected to play a huge part in Adamson’s attempt at reviving its volleyball program after placing seventh in the UAAP last year.
Spiker May Roque, as reported earlier, will be sitting out the rest of the season to fully recover from a torn ACL
