Wondering where Adamson got the inspiration for its theme in Saturday’s triumphant run in the 2016 UAAP Cheerdance Competition?
New head coach Jeremy Lorenzo said he looked to the past to prepare for the tilt.
“Way back 2005, nagkaroon tayo ng cheer segment na nanalo ang Adamson. Hawaiian ang theme namin noon,” he said. “So I decided na this year, why not make it the whole routine? Dun nanggaling ang inspiration.”
Lorenzo’s decision proved to be fruitful as the Adamson Pep Squad — backed by Akari Sports — made it to the top three for the first time since 2001.
Likewise, it was some sort of redemption for last year’s iteration, who despite a solid performance, finished just seventh among eight teams.
“Sobrang nanghihinayang ako sa batch at sa lineup last year,” he said. “Sobrang napaka-skilled ng mga bata kaya nakakahinayang. Pero for me, in God’s will, may kalalagyan itong mg abatang ito eh. May ups and downs pero this is what we got.”
And while Lorenzo would like to bask in the glory of this milestone, he believes the victory proves that Adamsonians have potential.
“Very proud ako kasi kaming mga Adamsonian, we all know na meron kaming potential eh. Sobrang blessed kami ni Lord na ‘yung mga talent na bigay sa amin, ine-enrich namin.”
